DescriptionThe University of Chicago is planning a year-long series of scientific and cultural events to observe its 75th Anniversary. The celebration will run from January 1 to December 31, 1966. George W. Beadle, university president, announced the title of the observance theme: "Conditions and Purposes of the Modern University." Representatives of the board of trustees, faculty, and administration are pictured as they consider observance plans; (left to right): faculty committee chairman Edward D. Rosenheim Jr. (professor, Department of English); board of trustee's anniversary committee chairman Glen A. Lloyd (Chicago attorney and university trustee); and, administrator of the Anniversary Year Charles U. Daly (university Public Affairs vice president).
