| Description | The University of Chicago is planning a year-long series of scientific and cultural events to observe its 75th Anniversary. The celebration will run from January 1 to December 31, 1966. George W. Beadle, university president, announced the title of the observance theme: "Conditions and Purposes of the Modern University." Representatives of the board of trustees, faculty, and administration are pictured as they consider observance plans; (left to right): faculty committee chairman Edward D.
